May 11, 2009: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - SUNDOLIER™ LAUNCHED AT COLORADO MIDDLE SCHOOL

U.S. CONGRESSMAN JARED POLIS CELEBRATES THE FIRST ACTIVE SOLAR DAYLIGHTING SYSTEM IN THE BOULDER VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Today Sunflower Corporation celebrated the launch of its Sundolier™ Daylighting system at Southern Hills Middle School in Boulder. U.S. House Representative Jared Polis and Colorado Climate Change Coordinator Alice Madden attested to the merits of the Sundolier™ technology, and its ability to help schools conserve energy while simultaneously improving learning environments.

“We have the power to make a difference with excellent projects such as the Sundolier™ demonstrated here today,” said Congressman Polis. “Research has proven that students excel in classrooms with more natural light. Daylighting applications like the Sundolier™ will help us add to that body of knowledge, and help further solidify the positive impact on learning that we believe is linked directly to daylight.”

Alice Madden, who leads Colorado’s efforts to combat climate change, commented on the long-lasting effects the Sundolier™ will have on students. “One thing we have control over is the quality of the learning environment we create for our children,” Madden said. “The Sundolier™ not only improves the learning environment, but its physical presence in the room will help generations of students who come through Southern Hills Middle school think differently about energy efficiency and energy conservation.”

The Sundolier™ daylighting system is a revolutionary new green product that lights an entire classroom with all natural sunlight which will improve student learning environments and save energy. Sundolier’s™ roof-top sun harvester collects and concentrates sunlight before sending it into the building for lighting purposes. The harvester tracks the sun across the sky from sunrise to sunset to maximize the amount of sunlight harvested and delivered to interior spaces. Inside the building the sunlight is re-distributed off the ceiling to provide high-quality indirect daylight that is evenly distributed in the room.

“We’re excited about introducing the Sundolier™ to light classrooms, offices and other commercial spaces,” said Sunflower CEO Peter Novak. “Daylighting helps kids learn faster and it creates an environment where people are more productive and healthier. It helps schools and commercial business owners turn off electric lights on sunny, blue-sky days.”

Although today was the official Sundolier™ product launch for Boulder-based Sunflower Corporation, the company has installed other systems in the Denver area including Cherry Creek and St Vrain school districts, as well as the Phillip S. Miller library in Castle Rock.

“We’re receiving a lot of interest from schools, but also from office managers and retailers who understand the value daylight has to occupants of a building,” said Novak. “It’s all about multiple benefits. Sundolier™ improves lighting quality while conserving energy, but it also helps with office productivity, retention, and absenteeism. Daylight increases sales for retailers. All of this, and its carbon-free lighting.”

Sunflower Corporation plans to sell its first 100 units on the front range of Colorado this year. Go to www.sunflowerdaylighting.com or contact Jeff Dale at 303.815.8806 for information or to arrange a tour and demonstration.
